Develop your child’s intellect through the fun game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity.
No previous knowledge of chess is necessary. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice
time. Both new and returning participants are welcome and will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. There will also be a chess competition with prizes towards the end of the session! Each child will receive a participation medal and a chess key chain.
Course Time: Mondays, December 18th – March 12th, 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Fall 2017: 10/2 – 12/11. No class 10/9, 11/27. (9 classes)
Winter 2018: 12/18 – 3/12. No class 12/25, 1/1, 1/15, 2/19. (9 classes)
Spring 2018: 3/19 – 5/21. No class 3/26, 4/2. (8 classes)
Depending on enrollment, one or more parent volunteers will be needed to observe all classes. If you are interested, you may be eligible for 50% off your student’s tuition.
