1.Whittier Angel Families Mittens

Every year our PTA works with Mr. Krugman to collect holiday wishlists for our Whittier Angel families. This is a wonderful opportunity to help make the holidays a little brighter for some our Whittier friends and neighbors!
HOW DO I HELP?
-Pull a paper mitten from the vestibule in the main entrance at school. Details of a Whittier child’s or family member’s holiday wish will be on the mitten.
-Have fun shopping with your family for the items on your mitten!
-Deliver the unwrapped gifts to the main office no later than MONDAY, DECEMBER 17th. We will then sort the gifts accordingly and provide parents with gift wrapping supplies. Be sure to keep your dropped off items covered so students don’t see in case they are a recipient.
Please contact Laura Hill or Joanne Brock if you have any questions! Every year our Angel families are overwhelmed with our community’s generosity and giving spirit with this continued program.  Thank you in advance to those who are able to participate!

2. Family Fun Night @ City Barbeque

Grab lunch or dinner at City Barbeque on Ogden THIS WEDNESDAY and 25% of your purchase will go back to the PTA!

3.  Variety Show Kickoff

It’s Whittier’s Annual Variety Show prep time! We’re excited to continue this fun tradition and watch our Whittier students shine at the show on Saturday March 9th.

For those of you new to Whittier who don’t know much about the Variety Show – or for you who could use a refresh – join us for an information meeting.

WHEN: Thursday, Dec 6th from 3-3:30
WHERE: Whittier Gym
WHO: Anyone interested in learning about this year’s Variety Show details. Please make sure kids have a parent attend with them.

If you can’t make it to the meeting – no worries! We will be posting information here, to the Whittier Weekly and the PTA website….and anyone from the Variety Show team here can find time to bring you up to speed if helpful (Ann Russell, Val Hardy, Rita Brezina, Matt Croft, Briar Croft, Sarah Bogaczyk)

Act submission will be January 14th so start planning!

4. Six Flags Read To Succeed Program

Whittier will once again be participating in the Six Flag’s Read to Succeed Program. Students who read 6 hours and complete the Student Reading Log will earn a free ticket to Six Flags Great America. This incentive program will run the month of December. Student Reading Logs will be due to the classroom teacher Wednesday, January 9th though can be turned in as soon as the 6 hours have been logged.

5. Save The Date!  Spring Fundraiser

Please save the date for our annual Spring Fundraiser on Friday, February 22, 2019! More details to come at the December general meeting.

6. PTA Meeting Liaison Request

The PTA is in search of volunteers to attend our general meetings and relay the information discussed  back to their child’s classroom parents so everyone can hear what took place at the meeting.  There are only four additional meetings for the school year so the time commitment is minimal!  If interested in helping out please email Jenn DiCosola at jennbala@hotmail.com or Susan Lorenc at susan_lorenc@hotmail.com

7. Chess Scholars Winter Session

Registration for the winter session of Chess Scholars is open!  Register by 12/7 for the early bird price of $122.75.  Classes are held after school on Mondays from 3-4pm at Whittier with the first class on 12/17.

Whittier requires an in-class parent volunteer for all after school classes.  If you choose to volunteer you will receive FREE tuition for your child!

8. Young Rembrandts Winter Session (Volunteer Needed!)

Registration for the winter session of Young Rembrandts is now open! Classes are held after school on Tuesdays at Whittier.  First class is 1/8. Cost is $110 for an 11 week session.

YB is in need of a second volunteer to share in the responsibility of monitoring the classes.  Please email Rachel Carrero at rachel.carrero@gmail.com if interested in helping out!  You will receive a discount on your child’s tuition for your time.  Whittier requires an in-class volunteer for all after school classes so without your help we cannot offer this class!
