3. Family Night at Culver’s on Monday, August 31st
Here’s a little something to make the first full week back to school a little easier! Give yourself a night off from making dinner on Monday, August 31st. Instead, bring the family out to Culver’s on Ogden, catch up with friends and neighbors, and help support the PTA (10% of the proceeds from sales to customers with the attached flyer will go back to the Whittier PTA’s Family Fun fund).
Hard copies of the flyer will be available at the back-to-school social on August 25th and a link to the flyer is posted below.
4. Summer Math Club reminder
If your child has any Summer Math Club packets that need to be turned in, he or she can turn the packets in during the first three days of school. Your child’s teacher will take them and pass them onto the PTA. We will pass out prizes for completion in a couple of weeks.
Thank you for participating in Summer Math Club. Any questions contact Katie Main (email@example.com).
5. Reach for the Stars fundraiser kick-off!
We will kick off our Reach for the Stars program on Friday! This is a pledge-based reading incentive program with 100% of the pledges coming back to our school, your child, and your teacher in the form of FREE books and cash for the playground fund. Here is the breakdown:
- 40% of the pledges enables your child to get free books
- 10% of the pledges goes to your child’s teacher in the form of free books for his/her classroom
- 50% of the pledges goes to the playground fund in cash
Your child is bring will bring home a calendar and reading journal so you can keep up with the minutes they read each day…be sure to go over the information with your child when the packet comes home. The goal of the program is to read 300 minutes over a 2 week period. (Regular nightly reading counts.) Have your child begin recording minutes and seeking pledges. The pledges should be FLAT DONATIONS, NOT per minute pledges. Every child who raises at least $100, $200 and $300 in pledges will receive additional rewards!
The student who raises the most money gets a $100 in additional books of his/her choice…on top of the free books he or she will already be getting.
