1. KOHA
KOHA is giving away up to $5,000 to District 58 schools! All you need to do is download the KOHA app and choose Whittier Elementary. With each download, the PTA will receive $1 between now and June 3rd! No purchase necessary.
To continue to help our PTA simply upload a picture of your receipt from any business partnered with KOHA and a percentage of your purchase will be donated back to Whittier!
2. Whittier Garden
There are a few slots still available for volunteering to water the garden over the summer. Duties would include visiting
at least TWICE each week to water (hose will be available) and weed (bring your own garden gloves).
Sign Up Genius link below to see available weeks. We will send out reminders prior to your scheduled week.
Garden produce will be picked and delivered to People Resource Center in Westmont!
3. Summer Math Club Needs Volunteers!
Summer Math Club is Coming Soon! Please be on the lookout for an informational flyer coming home in your child’s folder this week.
We are also in need of 5 parent volunteers to volunteer for Summer Math Club Prize Days at the Downers Grove Public Library. The check-in dates are as follows: June 17th and 18th, July 8th and 9th, July 29th and 30th, and August 12th. If you are interested in signing up for one of these dates, please contact
Lisa Folkening at

4. 2019/20 Open Committee Chairs
The PTA has two open committees left in need of chairs for next school year! See below for a list and description of each committee. If interested to learn more about what is involved/time commitment or to volunteer email either Susan Lorenc or Jenn DiCosola
5. District 58 Education Foundation Open House
There will be an open house to recruit new members for the District 58 Education Foundation at Cadence Kitchen Wednesday, May 29th from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
This is a great opportunity for members of the community to find out more about the Foundation, and ways in which they can help by volunteering on committees or by joining the Board. If you or anyone you know would be interested in finding out more, please stop by the open house!
6. Whittier PTA Family Fun End of Year Celebration
Join us on the Whittier primary blacktop on the last day of school on June 11th from 11:40 – 1:15. There will be treats, a dunk tank, balloon twisters, glitter tattoos and entertainment by DLD Dance Center.
All Whittier students & families welcome! Each child must be supervised by a designated parent or other adult as teachers will still be working during this event, and PTA volunteers are there to assist with activities, and are unable to supervise.
